This Star Trek Fleet Command review covers Scopely’s free-to-play space strategy MMO, which launched on mobile on November 29, 2018 and got an official Windows PC client on September 20, 2021. You run a starbase at the edge of the galaxy, crew iconic ships with officers from across the franchise, and fight for territory alongside an alliance. Nearly eight years in, it’s still updated every few weeks, and October 2026 brought the Halloween-themed Division 12 season.

The story began in the Kelvin timeline from the 2009 films, with the Federation, Klingons and Romulans fighting over the Alpha and Beta quadrants. Since August 2020, Scopely has added content from Discovery, The Original Series, The Next Generation, Lower Decks, Strange New Worlds, Deep Space Nine and Enterprise. The official site sums it up as content from “nearly 55 years of Star Trek.”

That breadth is the main draw. The Google Play listing promises hundreds of officers, from James T. Kirk and Spock to Nero, and ships like the U.S.S. Enterprise, the Romulan Warbird and the Klingon Bird of Prey. The current headline storyline is Q’s multiverse: the official site says Q has opened portals into a new Tesseract Sector, with Multiverse officers, Tarellian hostiles and a new alliance boss fight called the Quantum Armada.

Starbase, Ships and Officers

Your starbase is the economy. According to Scopely’s official Station Guide, upgrading Operations raises your player level and unlocks new buildings. Generators produce Parsteel, Tritanium and Dilithium, warehouses cap how much you can hold, and vaults protect a set amount from raiders. Research in the R&D Department unlocks combat bonuses and new ships.

Ships need officers. Each officer has an ability that works on the bridge, and the officer in the captain’s chair also triggers a unique Captain’s Maneuver. Officers from the same synergy group boost each other, so a well-matched crew can beat a stronger ship with a random one. That crew-building puzzle is where most of the strategy lives. My Star Trek Fleet Command tier list covers the crews worth building in 2026.

Combat, Alliances and Events

Fights are calculated in rounds but play out in real time on the map, against hostile NPCs or other players. Once you reach Operations level 15, your station can be attacked. The Station Guide explains the safety net: after your first attack you get a free 10-minute peace shield, at most once every two hours, which gives you time to apply a longer shield.

The calendar is packed. In October 2026 alone, the official news feed lists Infinite Incursions on October 10 and 11, a cross-server event where each server is paired against another, and the Division 12 season from October 15. Division 12 adds an Epic officer named Rose Harper, a Battle Pass whose paid Elite track offers Haven structures like Quark’s Bar and the Klingon Opera House, and the Halloween-themed Skin of My Enemies events from October 15 to 19. Crucible of War returns on November 2.

Scopely is also openly working on its relationship with players. In an October 7 post, SVP of Product Cam Stewart described faster escalation of urgent issues, closer work with the community team and a restructured, community-elected Player Council.

Playing on PC and Mac

The game’s website offers small launcher downloads for both Windows and Mac. The PC launch post from September 2021 lists a resizable window, extended zoom, improved mouse scrolling and a chat box that opens ready for typing. It also introduced Multiphasic credits, earned on PC purchases and spent in a PC-only store. For a game built around long lists of ships, officers and research trees, a mouse and a big monitor help a lot.

Scopely’s help center says existing players should first link their mobile game to a Scopely Account, then sign in with it on PC. My Star Trek Fleet Command beginner guide walks through it step by step.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Free on Windows PC with an official client and progress shared with mobile
  • Huge roster of officers and ships from almost every Star Trek series
  • Deep crew-building with captain maneuvers, officer abilities and synergy
  • Constant updates, seasons and cross-server events

Cons

  • Spending matters a lot at high Operations levels, with purchases up to $99.99
  • Your station can be attacked by other players from Operations 15
  • The economy, with many resources and currencies, is hard for new players to read
  • Event-heavy design asks for daily check-ins

Star Trek Fleet Command Review Verdict

I’d rate Star Trek Fleet Command 7/10. For Star Trek fans, nothing else puts this many officers, ships and eras into one strategy game, and the crew-building system gives you real decisions to make. The long-term game is a familiar alliance-war grind with heavy spending at the top, though, so it works best as a slow, steady game you play for the franchise and your alliance. The PC client makes those sessions far more comfortable. Download Star Trek Fleet Command free for Windows PC.
