This Neverness to Everness tier list is updated for Version 1.4, which added Blackbird on September 30, and it’s built differently from most: instead of one person’s gut feeling, it combines the three most recently updated community rankings and places each character where they agree. When the lists disagree, I explain why, because that disagreement usually tells you more than the letter does.
Key Takeaways
- Chaos, Lacrimosa, Shinku, Zankou and Blackbird are top-tier main DPS on every list we checked
- Iroi and Sakiri are the safest sustain picks on all three lists
- Blackbird is S-tier as both a main DPS and a support thanks to team-wide ATK buffs
- Free Chiz drops to A without dupes, but her copies are easier to get than anyone else’s
How This Tier List Works
I compared the Icy Veins tier list (updated September 28 for Blackbird), Kaiden.gg (updated September 30) and Neverness.gg (updated October 2). A character goes into S tier when at least two of the three place them in their top tier. Everyone else falls where most lists put them. Kaiden uses T0 to T2 instead of letters, so I read T0 as S, T0.5 as A, T1 as B and T2 as C.
Two caveats. Icy Veins rates S-class characters at Awakening 0 and A-class characters at Awakening 6, which flatters A-class units that are easy to dupe. And the rankings assume decent builds. A well-geared A-tier you enjoy will beat a neglected S-tier every time.
S Tier: The Characters Worth Your Dice

- Main DPS: Chaos, Lacrimosa, Shinku, Zankou, Blackbird, Nanally
- Sub DPS: Hotori, Linko, Zero
- Support / Sustain: Iroi, Sakiri
Shinku is one of the hardest-hitting main DPS options. Zankou, a Version 1.3 arrival, slots into DoT, break and hyper-carry teams, and that flexibility is why every list rates Zankou highly. Chaos deals Lakshana damage and depends more on partners than the others, so plan a team before you pull. Nanally is the one split decision: two lists rank Nanally at the top, while Kaiden places Nanally a step lower.
On the support side, Neverness.gg calls Iroi the best healer in the game, and the other two lists also put Iroi in their top tier. Zero earns a place for consistent Esper Cycle generation, which is why Zero shows up in so many teams.
A Tier: Strong With the Right Team
- Daffodill, Chiz, Baicang, Hathor, Jiuyuan
Daffodill is the one to watch. Icy Veins moved her up to S because break-focused teams are now the meta, and several newer characters need her on the team to function. If you’re building break teams, treat her as S.
Chiz is the interesting case for free players. She’s free from City Tycoon Level 18, and the Tycoon track keeps handing out character and weapon copies every three levels. At Awakening 0, she falls behind newer DPS, which is why Icy Veins dropped her to A. With dupes, she’s still a strong carry.
B and C Tier: Niche or Falling Behind
- B tier: Haniel, Fadia, Adler, Aurelia, Mint
- C tier: Skia, Edgar
None of these characters are useless. They just do their jobs less efficiently than the options above. Kaiden actually rates Fadia and Adler a tier higher than the other two lists do, so if you already own them built, there’s no rush to replace them. Edgar and Skia sit at the bottom on all three lists, so I’d avoid spending materials on them unless you love their designs.
Blackbird and the Version 1.4 Meta

Blackbird is the biggest shake-up of the patch. As a main DPS, she builds a Malice bar with her Basic Attack and Redirect skill, then spends it in her Ultimate state, Witch of Deliverance, before ending with a big burst.
What makes her special is everything else. Her Ultimate boosts the ATK of the whole team, and her Redirect skill fully charges her Cycle energy, something only Zero could do before. She’s also the first character to boost two Cycle reactions at once, Nova and Stain. That makes her a great partner for Lakshana DPS like Chaos or Hathor. Two roles, both at the top: that’s why she’s an easy S.
Who Should Free Players Pull?
If you’re not spending, focus. NTE has no 50/50 on limited boards, and pity carries over between them, so every Solid Die you save moves you toward a guaranteed featured character. Pick one top-tier main DPS and one sustain, then build around them. In Version 1.4, both Blackbird and the Lacrimosa rerun are strong targets. Use your free Standard Board selector after 50 rolls, and level City Tycoon for Chiz and her dupes.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I play NTE on PC?
Through Steam. NTE is a free download on its Steam store page: install it, launch it, and log in with your Steam account to start playing. Plan for 110 GB of free space and Windows 10 64-bit.
Who is the best character in NTE right now?
There’s no single answer, but Blackbird, Chaos, Shinku, Zankou and Lacrimosa are top-tier on every list we compared.
Who is the best healer?
Iroi is the most common answer, and Sakiri is the other sustain option rated top-tier across all three lists.
Is Chiz worth building?
Yes, especially for free players. She’s free, her dupes come steadily from City Tycoon, and she scales well with Awakenings.
How often does this tier list change?
Rankings shift with every new character, and NTE adds new ones each patch phase, so always check the version and date at the top.
